A connected app is one of your own accounts on another service. Once you connect it, Valendata can use it for you: read your newest emails, check tomorrow’s calendar, post in a Slack channel, or add a row to a Notion database. Skills read websites. Connected apps reach accounts that have their own API, so there is nothing to record and nothing to repair. You can use a connected app from:
  • The app: Igris, the in-app assistant.
  • Workflows: a Connected App step reads rows from an app or acts in it. See Workflows.
  • The API: the Connected apps routes.
  • AI assistants: the connected-app MCP tools. See MCP tools.
All of them use the same connections. Connect Gmail once and every one of them can use it.

Connect an app

  1. Open Integrations in the app, or open the app’s connect_url from Get an app.
  2. Sign in to the app on its own sign-in page and approve the access it asks for.
  3. You come back to Valendata with the app connected.
The connect_url is a page on Valendata, such as https://app.valendata.com/connect/gmail. It does not expire and works on any device. You must be signed in to Valendata to use it, so a connection is always made by you, never by a key or an assistant on its own. Valendata never sees your password for the app. The sign-in the app issues is held, encrypted, by Composio, the service that connects the apps, and used only for tasks you start. See the Privacy Policy. connectable: false means the app’s sign-in is not set up on Valendata yet, so it cannot be connected today.

Expired connections

A connection can stop working, for example when you change your password or the app ends the sign-in. It then shows as expired. Connect it again the same way; your workflows pick it up on their next run.

Read and write

Each app has tools. Every tool is one of two kinds: The kind comes from the app’s own description of the tool. Anything not marked as only reading counts as write. A write happens only when you ask for it: A write cannot be undone from Valendata. An email that was sent stays sent. An API key or an AI assistant needs apps:read to see your apps and run read tools, and apps:write to run write tools or disconnect an app. For an assistant both are opt-in. See Authentication and scopes.

Disconnect an app

Click Disconnect on the app in Integrations (or in Vault), or use Disconnect an app. The sign-in is deleted, and nothing can use the app until you connect it again. You can also remove Valendata’s access in the app’s own account settings.

Limits

  • Credits: each call to an app costs credits — 0.1 for a read, 0.5 for a write (sending, creating, changing). A call that fails or is refused costs nothing, and a builder’s Test step is never charged. Every call is listed under Activity on the Integrations page.
  • Writes per workflow run: at most 100. A run that reaches the limit stops, so a mistaken loop cannot email a whole list.
  • Your own account only: every call uses your own connections. An API key or an assistant never reaches a teammate’s apps.
  • The app’s own limits: each app has its own rate limits and rules. When the app refuses a call, the API answers 502 with the app’s reason.
  • Large answers: the API returns the app’s whole answer. An AI assistant may get a shortened copy, so ask the tool for fewer results, for example with its max_results input.
