# Rename an endpoint

> Give one of your skills a different endpoint name on its site.

Only the endpoint name changes. The skill, its slug, and its runs stay the same. Calls to the old name stop working, so update your code. How names are made: [Endpoint names](/concepts/site-apis#endpoint-names).

Needs `skills:write`.

<ParamField header="Authorization" type="string" required>
  `Bearer vd_sk_...`. See [Authentication](/api-reference/authentication).
</ParamField>

<ParamField path="domain" type="string" required>
  The site, such as `linkedin.com`.
</ParamField>

<ParamField path="skill_id" type="string" required>
  The skill's id, from `skill_id` in [Get a site API](/api-reference/site-apis/get).
</ParamField>

<ParamField body="name" type="string" required>
  The new name: `snake_case` (lowercase letters, digits, and `_`), 3–41 characters.
</ParamField>

| Status | When |
| - | - |
| `422` | The name is not `snake_case`, or is shorter than 3 or longer than 41 characters. |
| `409` | Another endpoint on this site already has that name. |
| `404` | No such skill of yours on this site. |

The error body is described in [Errors](/api-reference/errors#error-body).

    -H "Authorization: Bearer $VALENDATA_API_KEY" \
    -H "Content-Type: application/json" \

  ```
